Nedaa Sweiss has signed a multi-year overall deal with Universal Television.

Sweiss currently serves as co-showrunner on the NBC late-night series “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” She will continue in that role under the deal while also developing new projects for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

“We’ve greatly admired Nedaa’s contributions to late night television over the years, and are excited to be collaborating with her as she expands her reach into new kinds of projects,” said Jim Donnelly, executive vice president of comedy for Universal Television.

As co-showrunner of “The Tonight Show,” Sweiss is one of the youngest ever to hold this role in late-night history. She was previously the show’s head writer and also wrote for “The Late Late Show with James Corden” prior to moving over to NBC. In 2020, she sold two pieces of scripted development to CBS and ABC, and was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2019.

“So many of my favorite shows that made me want to write comedy were NBCUniversal shows, so this really is a dream,” said Sweiss. “And working with Universal Television during my time at ‘The Tonight Show’ has shown me how collaborative and encouraging they are as partners.”

Sweiss is repped by CAA, Artists First and attorney Todd Rubenstein.

News of the deal comes a month after it was reported that Fallon has extended his deal with NBC for a further five years. Fallon has been the host of the late-night staple since 2014 after previously hosting “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
