A St. Peter man was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Minnesota Highway 19 on Thursday.

John Henry Willaert, 58, was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 3:05 p.m., in Shaokatan Township, the State Patrol said. A 2005 Volvo semi truck pulling a mobile home was traveling westbound on Highway 19, when an eastbound crane truck sideswiped and hit the Volvo’s outside mirror. The crane truck, driven by Willaert, swerved right, slid sideways and overturned, coming to rest on its roof, the State Patrol said.

A 2011 Cadillac also traveling westbound on Highway 19 swerved to avoid the crash and went into the ditch, the State Patrol said.

Willaert was transported to Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls, the State Patrol said. The driver of the semi truck, Andrew Lewis Ler, 46, of Fallon, Montana, and the driver of the Cadillac, David Edward Hopp, 67, of Lake Preston, S.D., were uninjured, the State Patrol said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Hendricks Fire and Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all responded at the crash scene.
