The 2022 Range Rover Sport is an awesome versatile SUV. But how do the various trims compare from the SE to Autobiography to the Carbon Edition?

Minimalist on the outside and loaded with features on the inside, this sports vehicle is another modern innovation from the notable British brand.

The 2022 Range Rover Sport offers plenty of engine, wheelbase, and seating options. It is meant to be a compact sport-utility vehicle drivers can enjoy even off-road. Above everything else, the Range Rover Sport is also a luxury SUV many would love to have in the garage.

Land Rover offers three engine options with the 2022 Range Rover Sport S and SE trims. These include a 3-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel, a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol, and a 3-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the performance in these two models remains the same, depending on the engine, some other features may differ.

Both the Sport S and SE have premium LED headlights, 19-inch tires, alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, and basic infotainment with an enhanced sound system and touch pro duo. The same applies to the convenience package that includes a rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, cruise control and a keyless entry.

However, the SE trim also has fog lights and an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror. Moreover, while the S trim has grained-leather 8-way front seats, the SE has 14-way front seats.

The HSE and HSE Dynamic trims offer the same engines listed above, but the latter also includes a 5-liter V8 supercharged petrol engine. As the name suggests, the dynamic model provides more in terms of performance and comes with 21-inch tires instead of 20-inch ones.

Both trims are, in essence, packed with improved features compared to the first two trims on our list. They have Matrix LED headlights, fog lights, an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, and 16-way adjustable and heated front seats. Nothing changes in the infotainment and the convenience package.

The HST trim comes with a single-engine option, specifically, a 3-liter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel powertrain. However, this model has other great features to offer, such as Matrix LED headlights, a black-contrast and fixed-panoramic roof, Meridian Surround Sound System, and more. It even has 16-way memory front seats that can be heated and cooled. The rear seats are just heated.

The HST also has some extra convenience features for further assistance on the road. There's a blind spot and clear-exit monitoring, driver conditioning monitor, 360-degree parking aid, traffic sign recognition, and much more.

The 2022 Range Rover Sport Autobiography brings back the engine options of the HSE with Dynamic pack. It also combines the features of the HST and adds a couple of new ones. For instance, the Autobiography has 22-way memory front seats with winged headrests. In other terms, this trim remains pretty similar to the previously reviewed HST, although with a few more engine options.

Last but not least, these luxurious two trims come with a-single engine option – a 5-liter V8 supercharged petrol unit to be precise. Generally, they come with the same but improved features we listed above. For instance, the headlights are now Pixel LED, all seats are heated, and the full convenience package is included.

Still, the Carbon Edition takes everything one step further with a carbon fiber bonnet and engine cover. Unlike the basic SVR with 21-inch tires, it has 22-inch tires.

Now that we've ran a basic comparison of all these trims, it's time to talk about the best pick. The differences between 2022 Range Rover Sport trims, as with most SUVs on the market, mainly revolve around the number of featurs included and engine options. The models S and SE start as basic packages, while the SVR and SVR Carbon Edition stand for the most luxurious ones.

The S and SE trims start at around $70,000, and the SVR and SVR Carbon Edition at about $130,000. Drivers can also add to the final price by choosing custom and extra features. The price is steep, we give you that, and it may have an impact on your decision.

Although we'll leave it to you to decide on the best trim for your needs, we have to say both HSE configurations make the most sense for most buyers. Packed with all the basics and some extravagant features, the HSEs best balance luxury and price. They are also available in all the engine options, so you can choose just the power you need for your adventures.

While some cars were anticipated to be great, this bunch surprised us the most.
