Most of the discussion in the field of light pickups revolves around BIg 3 domestic products, but under all these products, there are some hidden gems to discover.

The Nissan Titan can claim this difference because it remains one of the two main choices for non-family truck fans, just like the Toyota Tundra.

The Titan’s annual sales rankings are far below the best-selling models (from a perspective, Titan’s annual sales are about 30,000 units, while Ford’s F-series trucks sell about 800,000 units), but not everyone agrees with Ford/Chevrolet/ GMC/RAM is obsessed with models, and they also need to choose to create a niche market that Titans can serve. Also worth noting: Titan trucks are assembled in the United States and have North American content, so like most vehicles today, it is not even completely foreign.

I recently tested the 2021 Nissan Titan PRO-4X Crew Cab, and I am back with a full report.

Vehicle: 2021 Nissan Titan Test price: $60,460 (starting at approximately $39,000) Best features: powerful truck, spacious interior, many standard safety and technical ratings: 3.5 out of 5 stars. Who would want this? A car? : Buyers of full-size pickup trucks looking for powerful and spacious non-domestic options to get the job done

The 2021 Titan is largely a continuation of the 2020 model. The last full redesign was in 2016, and some updates were made in 2020, so its design is not as novel or luxurious as some competitors.

The exterior design still stands out in this market segment, with a striking grille and unique bed design on the model I tested. Buyers can choose Crew Cab or King Cab settings. King Cab provides 79-inch containers and Crew Cab provides 67-inch containers.

Inside is one of the more spacious trucks you will find, with plenty of legroom and headroom for the front and rear seats. There are also some nice features, such as electric sliding rear windows and lighting on the bottom of the truck.

High-quality leather seats provide the driver with comfort and good positioning. Mainly use high-end materials, but compared with competitors, it still does not have that fancy atmosphere. All the items in the car, including all the buttons and controls, are well laid out and easy to use. One disadvantage is that compared with competitors' trucks, there is a lack of storage space for small items.

The PRO-4X model features pedals that can be easily accessed from Titan.

Other internal features include leather steering wheel, dedicated mobile phone holder and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink universal transceiver, and rain-sensing wipers.

External features include 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights, dual-power heated exterior mirrors, detachable locking tailgate, level IV integrated receiver hook, 4-pin/7-pin harness connector, spray bedding, front Skid plates on tow hook and oil plan, fuel tank, transfer case and lower radiator.

A double-panel panoramic sunroof and mudguards are also provided.

The 2021 Titan comes standard with a 5.6-liter V8 engine, which provides a leading 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. It is very powerful and will make you full of excitement. This is the only engine offered and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Titan is available in 2WD or 4WD. If you choose the off-road PRO-4X interior level, 4WD is the standard configuration. It has a Shift-on-the-Fly 4WD system, a 2-speed transfer case with 4Hi and 4Lo, Bilstein Off-Road Monotube Shocks, 4-wheel power disc brakes, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control, and electronic locking rear differential .

The towing capacity is slightly lower than the competition, but still impressive. The Titan can tow up to 9.400 pounds (with a payload of 1,680 pounds), while the heavy-duty Titan XD can tow up to 11,040 pounds (with a payload of 2,240 pounds)

The overall ride quality is a bit uneven. On the one hand, the powerful engine allows you to move fast, which is more suitable for highway maneuvering and overtaking than most trucks. Titan's overall driving is very smooth, and the vehicle responds to driver input. But compared to other truck alternatives, the Titan has sometimes been bumper than I expected.

Starting from the 2021 Titan infotainment system, the system has: two USB ports, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions, Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM satellite radio and 8-inch touch screen.

I found that it responds very sensitively to voice commands and can understand what the driver is saying. The physical menus on the system are well-designed, user-friendly and clear at a glance, and the steering wheel controls have also proven helpful. Connecting to a mobile phone is also a simple process, and navigation services are also available. In short, you can call it a simple and effective infotainment system

Titan is also outstanding in the field of safety, first of all its strong government safety rating compared to other trucks.

There is also a standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 kit, which contains key safety features such as: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear intersection warning, lane departure warning, rear parking sensor and The rear-view camera and even a driver's drowsiness monitor will warn you if you are too tired to continue driving.

Titan also has intelligent cruise control, button activation and rear seat belt reminders, as well as traffic sign recognition, 4-wheel anti-lock braking system and car seat LATCH system.

The fuel mileage on Titan is officially 15 cities/20 highways/17 total. But my average fuel consumption in actual tests was only 12.4 mpg, which is disappointing and the worst in its class.

The price of the 2021 Titan I tested was just over $60,000; the base price was about $39,000.

The heavy-duty version of Titan, called Titan XD, is a bit expensive, starting at about $45,000.

Titan's trim levels are S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve. It also offers the best warranty on trucks, a 5-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, which is a big selling point for those who want to protect their wallets on the road.

With the standard powerful V8 engine, impressive technology and safety capabilities, and strong warranty coverage, the 2021 Nissan Titan has a place in today's truck market, especially for those looking for non-domestic alternatives.
