The GM half-ton truck has better towing visibility.

According to these images from the dealership, in 2020, GM half-ton trucks are finally equipped with heavy-duty towing mirrors. The new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks have been on the market for several months, and General Motors said that these trucks will be equipped with towing mirrors "later" as an option. For those who are towing large and wide trailers, this day seems to have finally arrived.

The 2020 trucks are beginning to arrive at dealerships. TFLtruck viewer Jason noticed that this new Sierra 1500 AT4 with tow mirror was located at the dealership.

These vertically-oriented electric folding and power-extended traction rearview mirrors will debut on GM heavy-duty trucks in 2020. This mirror is also available in manual folding and extended versions. (By the way, 2020 HD trucks are now also starting to arrive at local dealers.)

General Motors has increased the maximum towing capacity of its half-ton trucks in 2020 to 13,400 pounds, which is the leader in its class, for 1,500 trucks that are properly configured and equipped with a 6.2-liter gasoline V8. The AT4 you see here is also equipped with a 6.2-liter V8, but the off-road suspension reduces the towing capacity of this truck.

When towing a large camping trailer, the retractable vertical towing mirror is a great help and a safety device that allows the driver to see the side of the trailer and have a clear view near the trailer tires and roofline.
